Drill Baby Drill EP. 2: Reap The World Wind
By HikingOn | July 6, 2009
Sanford was right. This must be a “world wind” (one of the unintentionally hilarious typos from Sanford’s sexy emails). A mistress that he totally loooves, plus all these other women he made out with or something but didn’t cross the “sex line,” plus the wife back home…it frankly sounds more exhausting than titillating. And personally, I wouldn’t really give a rat’s ass–if he hadn’t been such an avid “marriage defender,” what with the Bill Clinton condemnations and the anti-gay marriage …

Crossing the crater floor on this surface provides one of the most interesting hikes in the Park. Looking up from the bottom of the crater, one can see the distinctive ring around the crater marking the high point of the lava lake during the last eruption. The four mile loop-hike descends from the rim in two …

Carpentersville Illinois Fox River Trail Biking Hiking Path
By HikingOn | June 30, 2009
The Fox River Trail is a paved bike path in Northern Illinois west of Chicago. On July 5, 2008 we began in Carpentersville at Otto Engineering on Main St. On the east bank, from just below the Carpentersville Dam, we went rollerblading and bicycling north on a 4.5 mile section of the trail. Cycling out of the forest and up onto a bluff, a clearing widens into a spectacular view. This is a good place for birdwatching; to see water birds and herons. Just north of the bluff is the Fox River …

My small collection of hatchets. My daughter inspired me to do this video, as she was reading “Hatchet” by Gary Paulson. It is an excellent children’s story on survival, from the Scholastic Book Club.
