On The Hiking Trail (Pt. 1): THE RUNE TREASURE

    By HikingOn | April 18, 2009

I go hiking in the dense forest of the Putberg, here in the South of the Netherlands, where once the Cretacious Sea was and Romans dug for stones. I almost made a fatal fall, yet it was definitely worth it, because… it made me discover a real TREASURE! An unbelievable story! Note: this video was entirely filmed with my Nokia phone cam which only records in 177×144 res. So it is blown up automatically, losing quality. Alas! Soundtrack: Robin of the Wood, Clannad – Ancient Forest & Battles …

now the old-quarry is an impresive natural habitat for rare toad,s and salamanders, and the small forest-quarry is located in the city simpelveld – its a europeen protected habitat and the last year there is changed a lot – i upload a video of the putberg very soon greets

Thank you, I guess I used the Putberg as a scene for my videos, over 15 times.

They cut all the trees and bushes near the quarry.. and they are making a road to a house needs to be built, at the forest edge.

I am not sure I like that a lot!

Aaah thank you for clearing that, I was wondering all the time. Yeah they should leave the Putberg as it is, I don’t live far from it, only a 10-15 minute walk from the edge of Welten.

I like the small water stream as well, and all the steep paths. I filmed squirrels there in autumn and it’s an adventure to make it to the top of the quarry, by the path to the left.

I only succeeded once, it is quite dangerous underneath the top, risk of slipping down.
