“If they say you need a car let them know that I will do it.”

Their camera system is about 4 feet tall and weighs around 60 pounds, and requires a power supply. I reckon it takes an automobile. :-) There is a down-side to the project: it might make more people want to drive the Mojave Road.

      “Great idea…”

As yet I do not know if I can take 20+ days away from the ranch in the spring: I must be back by the first of May. I have worked out the cache sites. I will make a web site about the hike and tell you what the URL is when I’m done. FUN!

“If the Nevada desert is as beautiful as the East Mojave then a piece of land like that far away from people would be paradise.”

There are some GREAT isolated places in Navada, and if I could afford to buy 640 acres there (for $128,000) I would do so. I saw some lots for sale on ebay, and if I had the money I’d buy 640 acres immediately.

“One day, I d like to hike through part of the interior of Australia….”

Lots of people have died doing that. :-) Huxley did it with some people, and they almost starved to death.

Well if they are going to start working you for just food I say it’s gonna be 20 days. But then again the cattle may not wish to wait that long. :) I’m ready when you are.

Ya that’s right. But then again I have already made a “Street View” video of the place. You can’t improve on perfection. :)

DP and I will corrospond privately about where and when and all that stuff. By the time you folks see it history will have been made.

Unfortunately none of us have that kind of money :( Living in the city and paying bills in our economy will leave you just as poor as living on the farm.
And you don’t really need 640 acres, I’m planning on buying one of those cheap lots you mentioned in your Curmudgeon series provided it’s way out there in the middle of nowhere. It doesn’t have to be pretty just really remote.

Damn right. My married friends tell me about how unhappy they are, and it makes me wonder why anyone gets married.

Very true! I’ve taken your videos of THE ROAD into consideration, and my hike plans have been worked out for over three years. The problem is time— I need a hell of a lot more days away from the ranch to visit the sheriff’s office for research, visit Desertphile Spring, film the SA Bishop signature rock, find the Pegleg Smith inscription…. I can’t fit all it into 20 days.

Way cool! I can perhaps introduce you to Le Hayes in Baker: Mister Bighorn Sheep himself. If I really flog my ass and hike an average of 12 miles a day I can perhaps get done all the tasks I wish to get done. As it is I will plan on 10 miles per day direct route, and 3 miles additional every day for exploring. The route you took past Pahute Spring was the newer wagon route: I plan on taking the Indian foot trail to the north of the creek.

hang onto be fair it is not all like that I often tell him how lucky he is. ha ha if my spouse wanted to go hiking for 20 days really wouldn’t worry me. we both do or own thing and generally respect each other. Though I confess the alimony thing in the States scares me! Can’t imagine having to pay someone to sod off for the rest of my miserable life yuk. have fun in the spring oh no I turn 48 this year where did that time go
