Are my fears about hiking alone unreasonable?
By HikingOn | April 21, 2009
I love hiking in the Rancho Sierra Vista / Pt Mugu state parks near my home, but the problem is I don’t know anyone else who enjoys hiking and I get extremely nervous when I go alone. The main reason for my nervousness is I know there are mountain lions who have attacked at least one person (on a bike) in the past. I feel like I’m being completely unreasonable, but when I get out there the nervousness tends to taint the whole experience.
Any comforting words to set my mind at ease?

No, that is completely reasonable.
You should never hike alone. “Safety in Numbers”
Its not just mountain lions, but people alone are usually the ones to suffer physical attacks too.
My girlscout leader even made us a take a “buddy” when we’d go to the bathroom (not in it or anything like that) and that has always stuck with me. take a buddy.
I know that sometimes it sucks when you dont’ have someone to go with you on something you want to do, trust me i know the feeling, but “better safe than sorry”
