    What are the best longest lasting work boots/hiking boots to wear while walking on all this gravel in Iraq?

    I'm a civilian contractor in Iraq and we do a lot of walking, mainly on gravel. Walking on rocks all the time wore out the sole of my Timberland field boots in 3 months. I have a pair of converse boots that are very comfortable but they're not very lightweight. I need a lightweight boot with a very thick sole that will last longer walking on gravel.

      Your main needs are durability and extremely good quality. I am acquainted with a guy who makes custom boots that you just can almost never wear out. They are even so comfortable that you won't want to take them off.
