Ah yes, thats a whole other type of hiking. I have plans to actually do some backpacking in the future when I can afford the proper gear needed to do it!

Very good point you bring up! For example my poncho doubles as a shelter, and I have an emergency blanket in my pack as well. It can get cooold up there at night!

My longest “hike” to date was a two week long wilderness backpacking trip.

You didn’t mention it, but I think it is essential:

Always assume there maybe a possibility of you spending the night in the back-country.

In other words, be prepared for any, and all situations. :)
