recommendations for good camping/hiking trip for spring break in the midwest?
By HikingOn | April 16, 2009
so my friends and i are interested in going on a camping/hiking trip for spring break this year. we're from iowa and we were thinking about south dakota (1st choice) or anywhere not too far away…possibly colorado? anyway, we were just looking to see if anyone had any good camping experiences at any place in the midwest. we would pry be there for about a week and we'r not looking to spend tons of money….thanks!!
…now that i think about it, it would probably be better to go a little farther south since it will be mid-march and pretty cold yet…..any recommendations in southern states?…possible oklahoma or that area….

The Ozark Highlands Trail is in Northern Arkansas and it is beautiful in early spring. I used to go hike a week on there every year for spring break. The Ozark Highlands Trail Guide Book by Tim Ernst is very helpful to get you started. This is one of the most beautiful areas to see waterfalls.
