High Adventure Pre-Hike 2009: Three Ridges (Part 6)

The last pre-hike before the week-long High Adventure trip. A beautiful weekend spent at Three Ridges in the Appalachain Mountains. Continuing down the Mau Har Trail towards the waterfalls. Went down the spur trail to get a better look at the waterfalls, very spectacular. Came back to Mau Har Trail and continued hiking back to the tent site near Maupin Field Shelter. Music is from SimCity 4: Rush Hour

Reef of Rocks Hike

If you go up Mount Lemmon, which is near Tucson, Arizona, on The Catalina Highway and continue past ski valley by apx 1/8 mile, you will find a small parking pulloff on the lefthand side of the road (apx. 9500 feet above sea level). Cross the road and if you look hard enough, you’ll find what appears to be a trail, which will take you on an amazing hike into The Catalina Mountains to The Reef of Rocks. 4 members of The Dove Mountain Hiking Club took this ‘trail’ on June 6, 2009. Part 1 shows us arriving at the trailhead, hiking down to the Maupin Field Shelter tent sites for the night, and the next morning, hiking up the Appalachain Trail into the Three Ridges Natural Area.
